The FOX & PHEASANT CARVERY
Our Heathrow overnight Crowne Plaza Hotel was asking $40 for two breakfasts. Can you imagine their dinner prices? My pre-trip research found a great dinner option. The nearby Fox & Pheasant Pub is less than 2 miles from Heathrow Airport on Station Road in West Drayton. The family owned and run Pub serves a nightly (Monday-Friday) self service carvery meal for only 7.45 pounds ($11.00). These pix show highlights of their carvery meal. The pub seems pretty empty the reason being the owner set-up a Saturday carvery just for us and two other 'guests.'
The 'mains' as they say include three meats and veggies. Appetizers and deserts are extra. Not all that certain about carvery etiquette but diners are permitted at least one return for seconds which is more than enough for most.
Veggies included cabbage, carrots, home made fries, roasted potatoes, corn and peas. Meats included: Prime rib tasting roast beef, roast white meat turkey and ham.
REVIEW: The roast, complimented by a medium thick brown gravy, had the taste and texture of tender prime rib. It was awesome. The roast turkey breast was likewise delicious. They need a better heating system for their veggies which were warm to coldish. This is likely not a problem on regular crowded evenings. An amazing meal for an incredible UK price. Thumbs up for this oasis of a great bargain priced Heathrow airport dinner.
