Girona is a nearby (one hour ten minutes by train) medieval town that goes back about 2,000 years. It is one of the best preserved ancient walled cities in Europe. From about 700AD until the 1492 expulsion order it had a large Jewish population living in the Calle area. The Calle is one of the best preserved from that era.

Windows in the Jewish Calle were ordered to be sealed and cemented over to further segregate the Jews from the town. In recent years artists have painted the windows over the stone covering. Lower left panel show a Menorah on the table.
Two final medieval street views, this one a virtual 'highway' given its width.
