My father was born in Pianopoli, I have visted there a number of times as I have Oriolo where my mother was born. Love the area very much. My grandmother was from Oriolo, her name was Mary Branck. She married August Maida who was from Pianoploi...they were married here in the US in upstate New York. My Dad, Tony Maida visits our relatives in Calabria almost every summer. I went to Pianopoli in 2004 with my Dad and my two children. I met many relatives and YES I did see the faces of my family there. It was one of the most amazing three weeks of my life. Enjoyed the Calabria Heritage and the pictures. Have visited Pianopoli, where my father was born,a few times. We are going back again this summer for two months.
