U of W 4th Year Mechanical Eng. Students (April 16, 2005).
Competition was held April 8-10th in Deland, Florida.
Challenged engineering students to design, fabricate and test a radio-controlled aircraft that can successfully take off, fly and land while carrying the maximum weight in cargo.
Three classes, Regular, Micro and Open with the U of W entering in Open Class.
The aircraft must weigh less than 10 lbs without cargo or fuel.
The aircraft must take off with 200 ft of runway. 6 schools competed in this class.
3-member team of 4th year Mechanical Engineering students were Jeff Defoe, Maggie Sajczyk and Matt Nantais.
The results.
1st place overall in Open Class
Most weight lifted in Open Class (22.2 lb)
2nd place for best oral presentation in Open Class
3rd place for overall best design in Open Class.
"The Lancer" is powered with an O.S. 1.08 Engine.
