Bose - AKA Mr. Bose, Bozo, Big ol' Bose, Bowling Ball Bose. He had many names. He was a purebred Russian Blue. He left us on January 26, 2008 . . . but will live forever in our hearts.
“My Little Cat Ghost” - Lynette Combs - The years I’ve worn you, Warm upon my shoulder, ended here… surprised to find us older.
And there was nothing left to do today but hold you close and help you on your way.
Be still, my little cat. Be well; be free. I know that you’re somewhere near, and loving me.
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan." -- Irving Townsend.
The best cat ever.
Bose as a young cat. Yes, he is asleep, here. Cats are such contortionists.
Cameraphone pic, so resolution is lousy. A recent shot of Bose asleep on our couch.
A closer view.
This actually isn't Bose; it's Silver Streak. He was our very first cat, and also a Russian Blue. He developed a brain tumor when he was 7 . . . we didn't get nearly long enough with him. He left us in 1990.
Streaker loved boxes, the smaller the better. He especially loved shoe boxes. He'd settle in the tightest one he could find, looking for all the world like a cat-shaped loaf of bread.
This is Magellan, our senior cat. He's 17, and in decent health other than having complete heart block. I give him "kitty caffeine" every day to speed up his heart.
Mags is an Ocicat. They are smart, inquisitive, and friendly toward strangers. Oh, yeah, he's all that.
What a beautiful boy!
And he knows it, too.
Kyoto, our 14-year-old "touch me not" Applehead Siamese. This is about as close as I can get to her today.
Here's what happened when I got closer.
Kyoto in her safe place.
"Pop art" rendition of Bose, from the first photo in this series. I got it done at www.photofiddle.com. They do GREAT work!
