Little Zuni is 1 year old and weighs 14 pounds. She is still very frightened, but her fostermom is working on building her confidence (and on housebreaking).
The first night, Zuni moved herself into one of the smallest crates and that is where she slept. The next night that crate was closed so she moved back to the bigger crate.
Zuni is a pretty girl but very shy. The first 3-4 days she could not be approached without running. To catch her for bed required cornering her. When picked up she would clamp in place, her paws rigid on foster mom's shoulders.
Zuni is lean, like an Italian Greyhound but she has a good appetite and should fill out some before long.
She is a very quiet girl and will sleep without complaint in her crate. She has so far had no accidents in her crate and by the 3rd day she had let herself in and out of the dog door. She has since become very comfortable with the dog door although sometimes it makes it harder to get her to bed.
Day 7, Zuni has approached FM to sniff leg and to take a treat. She will not come when called and still moves away from an approach but will move to the corner and wait to be caught and picked up, rather than trying to elude foster mom. Her progress really is quite good.
