Charles John Solly (Mike) at 21 years. I understand that his crew were referred to as "Sollys Sinners" but no-one can explain why?
Nor why he had the nickname "Mike" "A stunning photo, which I've never seen." --Jennifer, 05/10/06 "My father, also Frank Haslam, was Charles' Wireless Operator: Charles (or Mike as he was known to his crew) was killed on 22 June 1944 in Lancaster EM-M LL973 of No.207 Squadron Royal Air Force. The three remaining survivors and the families of two other of the crew would love to hear from Charles' family and Jennifer. They should know his story." --Frank Haslam, 05/18/06 "Great photo of Charles solly. You are blessed with so many photos to look back on. I have read chapter 6-SHOT DOWN, very gripping account. "Hello crew. Bale out. Bale out. Good luck" Very calm, cool and collective. Very British. Brings tears to my eyes. I have been researching for the past four or five years, my great uncle Maurice R. Walker, 207 Sq. Manchester L7523 (ironicly) also EM-M. I was very fortunate to make contact with John E. Sharp of Manchester England, who's great uncle was also killed on Manchester EM-M.
