Every year my job takes me to upstate New York for six weeks. I generally do a T-shirt which I give away on Travers day, which is often called " The Fourth Jewel Of the Triple Crown". Business has been beyond bad, and I decided not to bother. I had considered doing a raffle with the benefits going to a charity, similar to what Orange County Choppers does, but gamblers aren't exactly the types to donate big bucks for a t-shirt, so that plan was dumped before I gave it any more thought. Over the winter, I had a potential client contact me about doing a Hoodie for her daughter. She never contacted me with the details after I'd already purchased the garment, so I was going to crank out a design for the place where I eat breakfast every day for the six weeks. Yesterday my upstairs neighbors asked if I could do a monkey on a totebag for their 8 year old daughter. Not one to say no to a kid, I took on the project with the intention of getting it done quick and then moving on to the other project. The specification was, " It has to be a cute monkey" Boy! These eight year olds can be pretty demanding! Here's the canvas for the artwork. The biggest open space is on the back, but the monkey was wanted on the front, so two small chimps will have to suffice. The bag is made of nylon or some other minimally-absorbent material. I had to lower the pressure down to 11 psi to keep the airbrush from blowing the paint all over the surface. |
