Cool! Small weddings are the best, aren't they? - Meg, Fri, 28 Jun 2002 9:00AM
0- Cake lady- groom cake Mom agreed to take care of the cake, and got this award-winning famous cake lady. The groom cake is a design off of a batik throw I found, and shows our theme: Dragons and phoenixes, in blue and silver.
0- Cake lady- wedding cake Here's the wedding cake, with blue and silver flowers. Mom was very worried that I wouldn't like it, but I thought it turned out beautifully!
0- Elaine and Bro My brother, and my father's wife.
0- Rick, Elaine, Bro There's my father with his wife, sitting with my brother on the couch in our living room. You can see the setting up in the background.

0- Rick Dad smoking- something you won't see anymore in person since he quit. Yay!
0- Bro, Elaine, Dad We were going to go to a steak place the night before the big day; this is in front of said steak place.
0- Nona, Robert, Eric Here are hubby's parents and the blushing groom.
0- Eric and Stacy There was some kind of problem with the seating, and hubby was getting tense. We ended up going to a different restaurant.
0- Stacy and Elaine The day of the wedding, waiting at the entrance to Zilker Botanical Gardens. You can see the dress I wore under the kimono.
0- Crowd- Jason, Stacy's family Several of us waiting, while cars are being parked. Only a few people were invited to the ceremony itself.
0- Eric and Raye Hubby's 'best man.' She is an SCA person, and had many kimonos to let people dress up in. He's wearing black hand-made shirt and pants, and a dark blue kimono. "GAH I look terri..." View Comments...
0- Eric, Stacy, Elaine shrimping I had on string sandals... I guess we were all looking at them in this photo.

1- Gordon, Stacy, Eric, Raye 1 My 'bridesmaid' Gordon is standing behind me.
1- Gordon, Stacy, Eric, Raye 2 The kimono is a vintage 50's heavy silk wedding kimono from Japan. It has peonies and phoenixes embroidered with silver thread. An awesome eBay find!
1- Gordon, Stacy, Eric, Raye 3 My headpiece was made of silk flowers from Garden Ridge or Hobby Lobby. It's heavy on the bluebonnets, because I love bluebonnets.
1- Gordon, Stacy, Eric, Raye 4 Gordon has the handfasting cord over his shoulders, this will come into play later on.
1- Gordon, Stacy, Eric, Raye 5 There's gonna be another zillion shots like this, get used to it.
1- Gordon, Stacy, Eric It was a nice 70 degree spring day. Texas weather can be very chancy, so this was a very happy thing.

1- Rick, Elaine, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 1 Family shots, wheee.
1- Rick, Elaine, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 2 Lookit all that greenery!
1- Rick, Elaine, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 3 You don't belt outer kimonos, so it was more like a robe.

1- Rick, Elaine, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 5 The dads are healed!
1- Rick, Elaine, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 6 People kept stressing about what to wear; I meant it when I said 'dress casual' but no one believed me. Everyone looked fine.
1- Rick, Elaine, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 7 Blar! Chopped Eric's dad in half again. My feet look monsterously huge in this shot (I'm a size 10).

1- Rick, Phyllis, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 3 For that matter, so do Eric's parents, and they are divorced now. It was a very friendly divorce.
1- Rick, Phyllis, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert 5 So you want to know what I look like with my eyes shut? Here you go.
1- Rick, Phyllis, Stacy, Eric, Nona, Robert BW We decided some artsy black-and-white pics would be nice.
1- Rick, Stacy, Phyllis 1 You can see the weighted padding on the bottom of the kimono. It was a pretty heavy robe!
1- Rick, Stacy, Phyllis 2 I think I look more like my dad, but I see resemblance to both.
1- Rick, Stacy, Phyllis BW Earthquake! OK, not really.
1- Rick, Stacy, Phyllis, Bro BW This is one of the few shots during the wedding with my brother in it. He was busy taking pictures most of the time.

1- Robert, Eric, Nona 2 I wonder what future FIL is thinking...
1- Robert, Eric, Nona 3 Hub didn't have a big obi-type belt, just straps of fabric tied in a neat knot.
1- Robert, Eric, Nona BW Hub wore these camel-toe ninja shoe things that you can't see in this picture.
1- Stacy and Eric 1 BW Drive-by shot
1- Stacy and Eric 1 We tacked in strips of silk around the neck to look like several kimonos, since it's too hot in Texas to layer!
1- Stacy and Eric 2 BW Nice ceiling, huh?
1- Stacy and Eric 2 I think Mr.Teahouse was made of all native stuff; there were strands of bamboo all over the place.
1- Stacy and Eric 3 BW Another drive-by
1- Stacy and Eric- blurry You can kind of see my fake obi- it was just a band of silk that hooked in the back, much like a cumberbund.

2- Eric and Stacy 2 There's his cute smile. I think the drugs just kicked in.
2- Eric and Stacy 3 Another kimono showing-off shot.
2- Eric and Stacy 4 Look! A finger!
2- Eric and Stacy 5 You can see the embroidery on the kimonom but it's hard to make out the phoenixes.
2- Eric and Stacy 6 There are the phoenixes. The phoenix represents the female, and it's counterpart is the male dragon.

403- Stacy proceeds I was nervous too, because Gordon was growing out of my head.
404- Chalice The ceremony was pseudo-Wiccan. I'm blessing the area with saltwater, for water and earth.
405- Incense Hub blesses the area with incense, for fire and air. It's being lit there on stage left.
406- Wedding We held hands through as much of it as we could, to keep from falling over.

75- Cold Eric Klaatu Barada Nikto! It was in the 60's/70's on day one- but day 2 was another story. We hit a cold front and it dropped to below freezing.
76- Cold Stacy We weren't prepared, so we stopped at a motorcycle place, layered up, and dropped a couple hundred bucks on cold weather gear.
77- Cold tumbleweed Friend Sonya said she had never seen a tumbleweed before. This is for Sonya!

813- Rick at Sandia Snow, snow, snow! Dad was being a good sport even though he was freezing.

9- Carlsbad pile of ice cream rock It had some fancy-ass name, but I thought it looked like a big pile of vanilla ice cream.

9- Carlsbad Voyager shot I don't know what the hell I was trying to capture here.

9- Maroon bluebonnets The drive from Pecos to Junction was all on IH 10, and was mind-liquifyingly boring. We went from there to Fredricksburg, where I stopped at Wildseed Farms and saw these. Then about an hour later, we were home.
Pool blue Ignore me. I am the background image. Huzzah!
