Retired Meander Dogs
These ladies have been wonderful foundations for Meander and have had lovely puppies. Now they are going to enjoy the good life of love, lounging, naps and cuddles.  And occasional babysitting.  A special tribute goes to Madeline who has had 5 litters of outstanding offspring, improving three different sires.  Meander is retaining two of her children for our future.  She is ever my loving companion.

Madeline
1. Madeline  (May 27, 2004)
'Maddy'
Is one of my very first registered Rat Terriers from an extinct kennel in Texas.  To this day, I consider her my best.  Maddy is a great hunter, born couch potato and pretty much a one-person dog.  She takes a long time to make a friend but then she never forgets them.  She is queen of the pack and the 'Mom-Dog'.
Born January 6th, 2003. She only encouraged my enthusiasm for these little dogs. She has been a terrific Mom and really enjoys her puppies.  She also tends to care for all the other dogs as well.  She is 11 1/4 inches and 12 lbs and a self-colored red and white (also called 'high red chocolate').

Maxwells Kitty at Meander
2. Maxwells Kitty at Meander  (July 14, 2005)
aka 'Kitty'

Kitty is appropriately named, as she is so catlike.  Gentle, sweet with a soft, silky coat, she can jump into your lap and you never feel her.  Her agility is amazing considering she's a lazy dog.  I often have to look thoughout the house for her, to find her curled up somewhere out of the way.  And even though she heard me calling, she was just soooo enjoying the nap.  I call her the Laziest Girl in the World.
Kitty is not old but she has had two litters, both of very small sires, but her pups seem to grow to her size, if not larger.  Perhaps she has too many standards in her pedigree but I want to keep my pups small.  It's too bad because her puppies are gorgeous and much better than herself or her sires.  See the Treasured Rat Terriers website for one of Kitty's beauties, Sugar Baby.  And Samson in my past puppy album is Kitty's son (if not her clone).

Maxwell's Jessica
3. Maxwell's Jessica  (July 10, 2006)
Maxwell's Jessica at Meander
'Jesse'

Still adorable, little Jessica is the 'comic relief' in our little household.  Very intelligent, she thinks up little games to keep us all on our toes and amused.  She likes to call all the dogs outside with alarm barks, just to have playmates join her in some game.
