P050 Hi everyone! I'm Cassia, Uncle Bruce's niece (I'm 10). I was the caddy on the night of the Ev Hodge Charity Game, and Uncle Bruce was very busy (me too) so he let me take some pictures...
P051 First, I made a sign on the board in the side room.
P052 Here's a close-up. I made lots of other signs too.
P053 Here's another close-up. (Uncle Bruce mentioned later that I spelled volunteers wrong...)
P054 The food table before all the food arrived...
P056 Marge Neate helped check off the names.
P057 Don Keith was the Master of Ceremonies
P058 Here are the entries being sold. Almost all of everyone's $10 entry went to charity. (LATE ADDITION: The event raised money for Canuck Place)
P059 Kathy Adachi, who got 34 tables to come out for the event (and a few more who came for the dinner!)
P060 Tai Eng & Sherman Kwan
P062 Another early moment before all the food arrived...
P063 Bob Gerrie checks to see if there is a better entry that the one he has....
P064 The guest of honour arrives!
P066 When Ev arrived, she naturally went to the table with the most people, completely ignoring the head table we had set up for her...
P068 Kathy Adachi and Ev Hodge
P069 The room was getting full quickly...
P071 Angela Fenton buys an entry as the Director prepares to catch any wine that might be spilled...
P073 Ev Hodge and Del McLennan
P075 Boy, Uncle Bruce sure was stressed when I tried to take his picture as he distributed the boards for the game...
P077 Ken Ramsay reveals the Ev Hodge Charity Classic Trophy!
P078 We finally got Ev to sit at the head table. I never figured out why nobody sat beside her.
P079 Ev listens to the pre-game ceremony and announcements.
P083 The remaining portion of the birthday cake (did I mention it was Ev's 90th birthday a week or so ago?) after most of us had a piece!
P084 Section C in the front room, your birthday cake is ready!
P085 There were 12 door prizes and the computer made sure that Ev won one of them!
P087 June Pocock, Anita Morse, and Larry Pocock discuss the hands after the game.
P088 Another birthday cake!
P090 Dave Schmidt and others await the final results. (Uncle Bruce was really flabbergasted to find all the boards picked up and stacked so soon after the game!)
P091 Tao Feng, Yue Su, Anita Morse and some others in behind await the final announcement (notice the microphone on the right edge...)
P092 Here are the winners, Mike Dimich and Don Brazeau. I think they don't look so happy because it would have been great if Ev won the first Ev Hodge game. But they had the best score!
P093 Joy Berry didn't play, but handled the food and kept things from getting too messy. We made sure she won one of the door prizes too.
P094 The only explanation for the odd look on Eugene Chan's face here is that he was amazed that we got his microphone and speakers to work after being hidden in the back of the VBC for so many years...
P095 ...or maybe Eurydice Nours finally got Eugene to admit he might have been, you know, partially, uh, wrong!
P096 And here's me after the game. You all sure were nice to me all evening. Thanks!
P097 Zoran Peca and Jadwiga Polujan
P098 Uncle Bruce after the game, looking a lot less stressed...
