F.U.R. The Friends Of Unwanted Rabbits (FUR) is run by volunteers who rescue rabbits from the Sacramento County Animal Care & Regulation. FUR is supported by the non-profit affiliate of Sacramento County Animal Care & Regulation, Teaching Everyone Animals Matter (TEAM). All rabbits are spayed/neutered, litter box trained, and socialized before being housed at PetsMart Adoption Centers. Rabbits are adopted to carefully screened indoor homes by FUR volunteers.
Rabbits in Foster Care are also available for adoption, unless otherwise noted.
If interested in adopting any of the rabbits at the Folsom Petsmart located at 2375 Iron Point Road 2705 East Bidwell Street
Please call (916) 710-0105 and leave a message. Please speak your name and phone number slowly & repeat it. You can expect a response within 48 hours but please be patient as we are volunteers. NOTE: When using a cell phone inside of Petsmart to call our message line often the phone cuts out so we are not able to understand phone numbers or names. Please go outside to make your calls. Also ADULTS ONLY should be calling. Often when a child calls it is difficult to understand the phone number or the child simply forgets to leave the phone number. This is a message line only.If you do not receive a call back please email us at teamfur@gmail.com. The message line is checked once a day so if a message is left at 3:00pm but the message line was checked at 12:00pm, your message is not going to be heard until the next day. Our volunteers might be with an interested adopter that scheduled an appointment so your call might not be returned right away. We are volunteers, please be patient and know that our goal is to find the rabbits forever loving homes. If you are the first person who leaves a message with interest in a rabbit then you are first in line so you will be contacted first and after going through our screening process have the opportunity to adopt if approved.

8 Ellen is really Edgar. This boy is soooooo laid back and sweet. Total doll face who's in desperate need of a home of his own. Even in his neglected state Edgar is still cute as a button. He's a silly and adorable boy. He's very curious and friendly. He was not well cared for so he could use a few good meals and some grooming. Throw in a little TLC and he'll be perfect. It never ceases to amaze me that a bunny could be so sweet to a human after having been treated so poorly by one. Darling Edgar is currently at the Petsmart in Folsom on Iron Point Road.

10 Tiber was a shelter favorite. He's such a sweetie. Tiber is a darling Lop. He gets along well with children but is very afraid of dogs. Tiber is currently at the Petsmart in Folsom on Iron Point Road.
11 Good golly Miss Molly is an adorable girl. She's friendly and curious. She was quick to come out of her shell and start exploring her new surroundings. She gets a little shy when you reach out to her but if you let her approach you first she'll climb into your lap for a moment. UPDATE: Molly doesn't like dogs and it was causing her some anxiety. She's been placed into foster care for a much needed break. OFur Rsq 33 02/17/2009

16 Baby Bun is a darling male bunny. BB came from horrible conditions. His distant relatives were dumped in Moreland Woods. A Science Teacher at the school next door dumped two unaltered rabbits at the end of the school year. What started as two rabbits, a year later turned in to 100's of rabbits. Many of the rabbits fell victim to preditors, people allowing dogs to hunt them, & kids torturing many. In addition the food source had run out in the woods. They had nothing to eat. All the grass dried up or had been eaten. The ones that survived were there because of people throwing veggies over the fenced in wooded area. An alliance of rabbit rescue groups formed to rescue the rabbits. See next photo

17 Sadly the school district was uncooperative by not allowing rescuers on the property to save the rabbits. They required a one million dollar liability insurance policy and threw up one road block after another. There pride got in the way of allowing innocent rabbits from being rescued. Rescue groups were able to save 50 rabbits that had dug under the fence and were hiding under mobile classrooms. Finally the beginning of August 2009 rescuers were allowed on the property to capture the remaining rabbits. See next photo
18 Many of the rabbits are afraid of people because of how they were treated. Baby Bun is one of the fortunate bunnies to be rescued. He is currently in a foster home receiving some much needed TLC. He is doing great and is very playful and sweet. He will be available for adoption soon.

19 FUR has a total of 7 rabbits from the Moreland Wood Rescue. Peace & Harmony are 2 altered adult male & female Dutch rabbits. Hope & Faith are two young females not yet altered. They are darling and look like Baby Bun but with an added white spot on the tips of their noses. We also have a young spayed female and a little baby that was rescued at 3 weeks of age. The youngest is being syringed fed. They all are beautiful rabbits who deserve to live out the rest of their lives in safe indoor homes. They are use to living as a colony so we would like to adopt them out as pairs if possible or as a friend for another rabbit. They will bond easily with other rabbits. Pictures of the rest of the rabbits will be posted soon. These rabbits need extra special loving homes. For more information call FUR at 916-710-0105 or email us at teamfur@gmail.com
20 Peace & Harmony are two bonded rabbits. They too came from the Moreland Woods like Baby Bun. Harmony is curious and Peace is a gentle bun. Both are laid back. Peace & Harmony are our Featured Rabbits. Turn the sound and click Featured Rabbit to see their slide show.
Both spay & neutered by R.H. They are currently at the Folsom Petsmart on East Bidwell.
21 Peace is on the left and Harmony is on the right. When the lay side by side the white band they each have is one continous band. They are approximately 1 year both are on the small side.
22 Barbie is a beautiful, gentle Californian girl. Come on now, how can anyone resist such a beautiful face like Barbies! Barbie is currently in foster care and available for adoption. ID # A499624 Intake date 6/1/2009 Rescue date 6/19/2009
23 I just love this picture of Barbie. When I was taking her picture she didn't want to sit still. She was very curious and just wanted to check everything out, including my camera. Barbie struts her stuff as she hops down the bunny runway :)
24 Jasper, Cricket, and Molly were taken in by a rescue group that didn't normally rescue rabbits. They had volunteers who were "rabbit people", who took care of these babies. Once the "rabbit people" no longer volunteer these poor babies had no one to love them. Their basic needs were met but they were not given love and attention. Plus, they were housed outdoors. They are all beautiful bunnies but are now receiving some much need socialization. Jasper is the most timid of the group but he's starting to come around. He is afraid of dogs. Jasper is currently at the Folsom Petsmart on East Bidwell. The employees tells us when they arrive before the store opens is when he most enjoys getting love and attention from staff. We think once he has a home of his own his personality will flourish. OFur Rsq 32 Intake date Rescue date
