*Note:  There are usually more rabbits at the shelter than currently pictured here.  Pictures are updated approximately 1-2 times per week.

UPDATE: THIS SHELTER IS OVER FILLED WITH RABBITS. PLEASE DON'T DUMP YOUR RABBIT!!!!
IT WILL END UP EUTHANIZED (KILLED)!!!!

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR PET! DO NOT SEND IT TO IT'S DEATH BY DUMPING AT A SHELTER, THERE IS NO ROOM! THEY WILL PUT YOUR RABBIT DOWN!!! THEY DO NOT HAVE STAFF TO CARE FOR THE RABBITS! RABBITS IN SHELTERS ARE "SECOND CLASS CITIZENS" THEY ARE NOT TREATED AS WELL OR GIVEN AS MUCH TIME AS DOGS AND CATS ARE GIVEN. DO NOT SET IT LOOSE AS IT WILL BE KILLED.

Read below what FUR can do to help you find a new home for your unwanted rabbit instead of taking it to a shelter.

THIS SHELTER ONLY HAS ROOM TO HOUSE 6 RABBITS AT A TIME. The FUR program does not have room to rescue anymore rabbits until we get some adoptions. Please consider adopting one of these lovely rabbits from the shelter.

BEFORE DUMPING A RABBIT at a shelter where it more then likely will be euthanized, consider emailing a picture and description of the rabbit to teamfur@gmail.com. The Friends of Unwanted Rabbits (FUR) will place the rabbits picture on their website, www.teamfur.org, along with your contact information. Anyone interested in adopting the rabbit will contact you directly. Folks looking for rabbits are familiar with the FUR website. Your rabbit will get more exposure and will have a better chance at being adopted as opposed to dying at a shelter due to a lack of space. For more information call the FUR message line 916-710-0105 or email teamfur@gmail.com.

Rabbits make wonderful indoor pets and are easily litter box trained. They are very social and there are many dangers outdoors, preditors that can kill them, they can escape easily through small spaces, and they cannot be out doors if it is over 80 degrees, why because a rabbits internal tempature is between 101 to 103 degrees. Call FUR at 916-710-0105 and leave a message for a volunteer to call you and answer your rabbit care related questions.

Consider alternative's to dumping rabbits at a shelter. The FUR program will help find new homes but cannot take the rabbits in to the program. The owner will have to house the rabbits until we can help find new homes. This is a Win Win situation, the rabbits are safe from euthanasia and the owner can feel good about taking responsibility for finding their rabbit a new home.

If your interested in volunteering to work with the rabbits call 916-710-0105 and leave a message.

Candy and her sisters and brother were relinquished by their own.  They adopted a rabbit they thought had been spayed but there was an error.  Thirty days later Candy and her siblings arrived.  Unfortunately the adopter could not care for all of the rabbits and had to bring them to the shelter.  They are approximately 6 months old and are ready for a home to grow up in.

Leo the Lionhead is a stunning boy.  He's almost too pretty to be a boy.  He's pretty easy going and his coat is as soft as it appears.  He's in need of a home ASAP.  The sheler is at capacity.

Roger is a very friendly and energetic boy.  I wish I could have gotten better pictures of him dancing.  He danced up a storm in the exercise yard.  He's quite a character.

When Roger needed some downtime from all dancing he'd come hang out with me.  He just wanted me to pet him while he readied himself for his next dance.

Bambi may be a Prince.  From what I could tell she is a she but wouldn't let me get a good look.  She's still a baby so that makes determining her sex a little more difficult.  She's VERY sweet and enjoyed being cuddled.

Bambi had a good time in the exercise yard but was a little cautious because there were a number of dogs barking and when a dog was brought into a neighboring yard she decided it was time to go back inside.
