1 Our kitchen as it looked the morning of January 2 2007,cleared of anything moveable, ready for the workers to begin the renovation.
| 2 A view of the ceiling tiles and current lighting. Both are being taken out.
| 3 In order for the fridge to fit through the doorway to it's new location the doors had to be removed...same as when it was brought into the house new about 9 years ago.
| 4 Fridge doors removed.
|
5 The front hall becomes a temporary storage area for items removed from the kitchen.(Brown boxes in background are late Christmas presents...Joey's newly arrived speakers and my monitor). :)
| 6 More items from kitchen ...the rest are in the dining room.
| 7 East end of kitchen just before renovations began.
| 8 North side. Flooring, cupboards, backsplash, sink, and countertop are staying the same.
|
9 Dropped ceiling, old lights, and old bulkhead are gone. Ceiling is strapped for drywall. It is about one foot higher now.
| 10 Panelling is down, and soon the built in spice rack will be drywalled over. I'm aiming for a more uncluttered look.
| 11 Kitchen window and sink.
| 12 Jan.8/07 More strapping, and now the new wiring is in place.
|
13 Receptacle near floor has been replaced by a new table height one on it's own line. Wainscotting in pic is the original, and as much as I'd like to refinish it, it just isn't practical and also the paint may contain lead.We will cover it over with wall board simulating wainscotting.
| 14 Pippin checking things out.
| 15 Jan.15/07 Drywalling finished and primer on
| 16 Yellow paint is on. There was a little problem with the shade being too dark, so the painters returned the paint and had it mixed correctly.
|

| 18 New chairs from Corner Furniture. I will paint them white and yellow to match the walls. One primed so far.
| 19 Jan.22 Light fixtures are up. Centre light. Walls are a softer yellow now since paint was remixed.
| 20 Smaller round light over table.
|
21 New fridge for kitchen. The larger side by side is now in the back room.
| 22 Storage cupboards where large side by side used to be. Thanks for assembling these,Jack!
| 23 Time for some artwork! Three barrel staves hand painted by moi with herb designs.
| 24 Close up of herb paintings.
|
25 This painting has the perfect yellow sky to match the kitchen walls! It was a wedding gift, painted by my high school friend Dusti Digout.
| 26 February 2009. Two years after the last renovation we have decided it's now time for new flooring. The B&W diagram on the floor is part of the Mannington Software program which allows us to see different floor samples in our kitchen to help decide which design to choose.
| 27 February 10 2009 Fridge and adjacent free standing cupboards have been moved out in preparation for the installation of the new flooring.
| 28 The two large white cupboards previously on the wall to the right of the doorway have been moved into the dining room to make space for a larger eating area in the kitchen.
|
29 Our faithful old stove which served us well for 25 years is being replaced by a new one with a much larger oven. Scorch marks on the wall are from the oven exhaust.
| 30 February 11 2009 New sub flooring installed.
| 31 Another view of sub flooring.
| 32 February 14 2009 New flooring is down, and fridge moved back in.
|
33 This stove served us many good years (1984-2009) and I liked the space between the burners for sitting hot pots or something out of the oven.
| 34 Feb.19/09 New stove is in!
