Vaikunta Ekaadasi
Vaikunta Ekaadasi, the auspicious day on which the doors to Vaikuntam, the divine abode of lord Srimannarayana, are opened. This can be observed by the star formation of the Prabhavali in the northern direction on this day. This day is considered to be very auspicious for Sri Vaishnavas. On this day people fast and wash away all their sins by lord Perumal Venkateshwara's grace. The temple sanctifies the Vaikuntam Dwarams structured inside with perumal and his divine consorts on the Garuda Vahana, and are opened after recitation of divine mantras and prayers. Devotees throng in huge numbers to get an oppurtunity to pass through the door and seek perumal's blessings. It is said that all those devotees who observe severe fasting on this day gain all spiritual benefits as assured by lord perumal himself. Also, perumal welcomes all his devotees into Vaikuntam by opening the doors. All those devotees who seek to get his grace indeed are granted moksham in that birth and are freed from the cycle of rebirth.
