Rugged Crosses, welded steel with brass.
During the late 1960's as I begun welding, I had few resources. I wanted to make a gift, something unique, something strong, for a dear friend. The song "the Old Rugged Cross" popped into my head. I had a vision of a cross with a asymetrical abstract design made from various sizes of steel welding rods. Since then i have been fascinated abstracting within the cross shape. Later,as a decorative and symbolic devise, I added brass. Brass is a symbol of Happiness and Life as it is the color of the sun. Thus, I hope my crosses bring their owners much Strength and Happiness. | Date(s): 10/22/04. Album by M. J. (Joy ) Gibat. Photos by Joy Gibat. 1 - 13 of 13 Total. 2380 Visits. |
