Colombia Birds/Hummingbirds 2010
These photos are from a July, 2010 trip to Colombia, partially to teach at an international workshop and partially to see as many as possible of Colombia’s 160 species of hummingbirds (plus other birds) during a short visit. The first portion of the trip was around Bogota (work+fun), with a weekend at Chicaque National Park and one day at Enchanted Gardens near San Francisco (a wonderful place), hosted by our good friends (Luis, Erasmo and Carlos) from the national university (and their families). Then we spent several days in the Coffee District with our friend and guide Daniel Uribe (Birding Tours of Colombia, www.danieluribe.com). We spent a day at William Pena’s house in Pereira and then visited the Rio Blanco Eco Reserve near Manizales as well Los Nevados National Park. A wonderful trip, and highly recommended.
