KIM JELLEY
9. KIM JELLEY  (January 29, 2003)
THE ARTIST

Welcome to the mystical, magical world of award winning artist Kim Jelley. Completely self taught, this multi media artist began expressing her talent through charcoals. Most of her drawings were inspired by the incredible art of master fantasy artist, Frank Frazetta.

In 1997, Kim was introduced to polymer clay and thus began her unexpected yet exciting dollmaking journey. In the year 2000, Kim won first prize in the Professional Dollmakers Prosculpt contest for her one of a kind portrait doll, "Marilyn". Kim's work has been featured in numerous doll magazine publications, books and calendars including Dollreader, Dollcrafter, UK's "Doll" magazine(8/02),(9/04) "Dolls" magazine (5/02, Dolls of Diversity 2004-2005 calendar and the book "Contemporary American Doll Artists and Their Dolls" by Kathryn Witt, published 2004. Kim's work was featured on the front covers of both the book and the calendar. Kim is an artist member of The Artist Doll Gallery and AADA.

Endlessly challenging herself toward exciting new ways to express her art, Kim is currently creating one of a kind charm bracelets and painting heart charms. Kim's work was recently featured in 'Vintage' magazine as well as the 'Crazed Collector'. Her work can be visited on eBay at her store http://stores.ebay.com/The-Painted-Heart, or her website The Painted Heart www.thepaintedheart.com

Aside from her art career, Kim also works full time as a direct care counselor for tramatic brain injured and developmentally disabled adults. She is happily married with 3 grown children and has 2 cats and 2 dogs. Kim works on her art creations when she can find the time, which is very hard to do for this busy artist!
