IrishGlyn's Planned Litters
1. IrishGlyn's Planned Litters  (November 18, 2004)
************************************

Our next litter is planned for fall of 2010. If you'd like to be referred to another breeder just send us an email at IrishGlyn@Gmail.com

Before they are bred, our adult rat terriers are examined by our vet, and then certified for cardiac and patella with the Orthopedic Foundation For Animals (OFA). Some of our adults have their hips/elbows ex-rayed. In 2010 all our rat terriers will be OFA DNA tested for Primary Lens Luxation. Each one has been checked by our vet in the past, but this year we'll be doing a more extensive test.

Our pups are born in our spare bedroom, and moved into our dining room just before their ear canals open at 2 1/2 weeks old. They will be used to regular household noise, and be well socialized with adults and our grandchildren. They will be used to having their nails trimmed, used to collars, have their 1st vaccinations at 7 weeks, have several wormings starting at 2 weeks, and be started in house training before going to their new homes at 8-9 weeks of age.

Our pups will be UKC registered, and all puppies will have IrishGlyn as a prefix on their papers. We require from our puppy owners that their new puppy live indoors/outdoors, continue the socialization thru adulthood, keep puppy vaccinations up to date, feed a good quality food, and treat your new baby as a member of your family. All puppies going to pet homes will  required to spay/neuter their pups at 6 months of age.

Only a small percentage of our puppies go to show/breeding homes. Those select homes are usually chosen before a breeding takes place, and are with responsible, knowledgeable breeders with small kennels like ours. Our goal is not to add to the unwanted dog population, but to respond to requests for a well-balanced, healthy puppy that with positive training methods and love, will mature to be a cherished, forever member of their family. If you are not familiar with rat terriers or terriers in general, and are considering one for your family or as a companion, we'd like to suggest learning about these lovable, fiesty little dogs. Some rat terrier puppies are not suitable for families with children under 4 years of age. Email us if you have any questions, and would like to learn more about the breed.

The evaluations on our puppies start at birth, checking structure, head shapes, temperaments and more. We start the Superdog/Bio Sensor Program at 3 days of age, do a puppy aptitude test at 7 weeks, and a structural evaluation at 8 weeks. By the time our pups are 8-9 weeks old and ready to go to their new homes, we feel our efforts help place each pup in the home that suits him/her best.

Captain and Ginger's Freedom Litter
3. Captain and Ginger's Freedom Litter  (September 11, 2009)
****************************************************

All pups in this litter have found their forever homes.

October 17, 2009 Update: Our pups are 5 weeks old now, and getting around on those short fat little legs :) All are eating solid food, and continue to gain weight. They'll be spending more time away from Mom now, and learning to be independant. We're having alot of fun with them, and will be taking better pictures in the sunlight in the next few days.

Captain and Ginger's litter was born in the early morning hours of September 11, 2009. Puppies will be born when they are ready, and we had the feeling Ginger would choose this date. So we decided to name our babies after a few of the the Canine Heros that helped save lives in the aftermath. There were over 300 rescue dogs that participated, and every single one is as important as the other. The names we chose were names we liked.

Ginger is doing great, all puppies are gaining weight already and doing fine.
