Maggie & Cowboy-Coated AHT (November 24, 2009)Maggie is a coated AHT out of a Rat Terrier X Coated AHT breeding.
Rat Terriers historically had a coated and hairless variety. The hairless variety is now a separate breed called the American Hairless Terrier or AHT for short.
Any puppy from a dog who decends from an American hairless Terrier (or coated AHT) is considered an AHT, even if one parent is a Rat Terrier. They are not considered a mixed breed, as the AHT gene pool is still using the Rat Terrier to improve the quality of that breed.
Brindle is acceptable in the AHT's, but is not acceptable in the Rat Terrier. Therefore these puppies cannot be registered as Rat Terriers.
Cowboy is 100% Rat Terrier out of Carly & Shadow. He is 2 yrs old. |

Available older pups / dogs (updated May 2009)| Sometimes pups don't work out in our breeding program, through no fault of their own. Many dogs are just meant to be good pets. All my Ratties are family pets. Because they are not kenneled or kept anywhere besides our home we have to be very selective as to whom we keep for showing, breeding and yes, we occasionally get attached to a neutered pet as well. The dogs on this page are ones whom we feel would do better in homes where they will receive more personal attention than they do here on the farm. |
