We spent the day celebrating Avery's Birthday. She had a great time opening her presents and following 47 (Greg 1968 & Andrew 1984) years of family tradition, getting "hands on" her first birthday cake in our kitchen in the red wooden high chair.

August 1968 - Greg was one year old. Seems like yesterday in some ways. We couldn't have imagined having a granddaughter celebrating her first birthday in the same chair 47 years later. Of the three, Greg, Andrew, and Avery, Greg is the champion icing and cake demolisher. (Music is "Happy Birthday Baby" by the Tune Weavers)

Andrew's First Birthday - April 1984: Time has not been kind to the 8mm film from which this video was generated. You can see that Andrew was much more restrained than Greg was, but he did manage to pretty thoroughly cover himself in chocolate icing.
Notice how Andrew uses his index finger to test the icing in a similarly tentative manner as Avery does. On the other hand, Greg goes all in with both hands!
Also included is a short clip of Andrew in his little red coat on a hike to Lake 22 and another clip of the Easter Egg hunt at St Stephen's Lutheran Church. (music is The BEATLES Birthday Song)
