My first hike on my second tour with Troop 24. We took a bunch of 11 and 12 year olds on a loop hike to Thorp Lake and Thorp Mountain Lookout.

Took the Fisherman's trail from parking area (Marker A) to Thorp Lake. The next day we went on a Loop trip by hiking up to the ridge (Marker B) at 5420' where we ditched our packs before climbing up to the Thorp Mtn Lookout at (Marker C). We returned to where we stashed our packs and continued along the ridge trail down to the French Cabin Creek Trail, passing the junction with the Knox Creek Trail (Marker D).
Taking the FC Creek trail we hiked to our shuttle car at (Marker G) after pumping water at (Marker F). The hike along the ridge is very scenic with a lot of ups and downs. A shorter loop could be done by using the Knox Creek trail from (Marker D) to (Marker E). Total for the trip was 9.5 miles and 2000 feet climbed.

Another shot with Cascade Bill instead of Greg. This was my first hike of my second go around with Troop 24, having previously been with the troop from 1978 through 1985.

After ditching our packs we headed up the trail to the lookout. This view is looking down the trail back to Thorp Lake.

Taking a break somewhere along Kachess Ridge. Kachess Ridge is dry so pack plenty of water if you take this route. We stopped to filter water in French Cabin Basin.
