Meet Tora!
Enlarge photo 22
Her shelter shot showed a shockingly fat girl, but one who was described as happy and sweet.
Enlarge photo 33
On intake, her weight was over 25 lbs., on a frame that suggests an ideal weight of only about 15 lbs.
Enlarge photo 44
She is only about 18 months old and quite puppyish in her behavior.
Enlarge photo 55
She is alert, active, playful, and always ready for an adventure.
Enlarge photo 66
Even when she is napping, she seems to keep one eye open, just in case there is something exciting going on for her to join in on.

Tora is well house trained as long as she has plenty of outdoor opportunity. She doesn't yet know how to "ask" to go out, however, so a set schedule will be necessary to help her firm up good habits.

Tora gets along great with other dogs. She and her foster brother Addax play together amiably a lot.

One of their favorite games is Bitey Face. She lets him try to take her whole head in his mouth, and in return she gnaws on his ears and neck. When they really get going, it is a whirl of bouncing, twirling devilment and they're always good humored about it.

Tora LOVES toys. Mostly she just carries them around from place to place but occasionally she decides one of them needs to be "killed."

She is still too heavy to be very nimble about jumping up into your lap, but she will eagerly let you hold her if you will lift her up.

Affectionate girl!

Ah, the warmth of an early June day! What could be better?

Tora has already lost almost 3 pounds in just one month in foster care. Being so active and playful, and LOVE LOVE LOVING to go on walks, she will surely lose another 7 or 8 lbs. before long.

Tora gets so excited when it's time for a walk! She decided Gary wasn't getting things ready quickly enough, so took matters into her own hands...uh...mouth. Click for a video.

We discovered we had forgotten to bring dog toys on our weekend trip, so we offered Tora an empty toilet paper roll. She enjoyed that as much as any other toy, carrying it around for quite a while before ultimately demolishing it. Click for a vide.

Tora likes other dogs to play with her, but when the others aren't in the mood, she seems perfectly happy playing with herself. It's so fun just to watch this goofball. Click for a video.

When foster sister Suni first got here, she didn't seem to know how to play, but Tora was persistent in her friendliness and friskiness, and Suni eventually decided that Tora was fun. The two wrestle and chase frequently now. Click for a video.
