This is Teak. He is staring at you because he wants you to invite him onto your lap.

Teak is approximately 2 years old and weighs 16 lbs.

He came to rescue with heartworms and a deformed front leg.

He often holds the leg up, but he can walk, play, and even run on it. He also scampers up and down stairs and jumps off of your lap or off of the couch onto both front feet and it doesn't seem to cause him any pain or discomfort.

The vet said that the deformity could have been a birth defect, or it could be an old injury that was never treated and left to heal on its own.

Teak loves loves loves people. He stood out at the shelter because he would come to the front of the cage to ask for attention every time someone walked by.

He goes right up to strangers to make friends, and he loves getting pats and cuddles.

He likes being close to you but is NOT licky.

He even accepted some extremely enthusiastic attention from a grabby pre-schooler without acting particularly concerned.

Teak is always ready to help me when I'm trying to work at the computer.

Usually his method of helping is ensuring that I don't work too hard.

Yeah... lap time... aw now that is the life.

When he has to get down off of my lap, he finds a dog bed nearby...

and if another dog joins him, so much the better!

In fact, Teak is perfectly comfortable hanging out with the canines. He gets along with them all but can initially be a little intimidated by those with strong personalities.

They have the run of the whole house and yard, but choose to have a doggie slumber party within a couple feet of my desk.

Sorry they're sideways, but here are 2 videos of Teak initiating play with new canine friends in the home where he's staying for a couple of days. These videos were taken less than 1 day after he got there. In our home, the other dogs are not "players," and Teak is respectful of them, so we haven't seen much of his playful side before, so these are really gratifying!

Even better than playing or lounging with other dogs is lounging with the humans.

This is where he is happiest!

Two minutes after meeting a visitor, here is where he chose to be.

We took Teak to visit at an assisted living facility, and within 5 seconds he was in a lap. Then one by one he went to meet the other residents.

A couple of them weren't too sure what they thought of him at first.

But it didn't take him long to win them over!

Another new friend.

He was quite the hit!

Teak seemed perfectly content to spend the entire day there, where there were so many willing and quite stationary laps!

Don't you need a cuddlebug like Teak?
