Robin had been turned in to the shelter by his previous owners with a "Can't Keep" notation..
He is currently about 5 years old.
Robin is a little squirt, weighing just 13 lbs.
He was so happy to be out of the shelter, and relaxed right into foster home.
He sure enjoys evening snooze time!
When Robin first got into rescue, he had a host of medical issues. He sat funny, often walked 3-legged, and often squealed when picked up. This turned out to be due to both a luxating patella (kneecap) and an out-of-socket hip bone.
He also had a skin infection, worms, fleas, and a pellet embedded under his skin. And as if that weren't enough, he was also found to be heartworm positive. Clearly he had not been well taken care of in his former home!
He spent 6 months going through heartworm treatment and multiple surgeries.
He was a real trooper through it all and seldom complained, even when he had to wear the Cone of Shame.
Fortunately he got lots of lap time during his recuperation, which he LOVES. That's what life is all about, you know!
Robin is initially wary of strangers and doesn't want someone he doesn't know to pick him up.
Within a very short time, however, he gets over his mistrust and then is all about seeking attention from his new friend.
Another visitor found himself turned into a Robin pillow within about 15 minutes of meeting him.

If you have a lap you are most certainly going to be visited by this little lover within a short while!
He will be in your lap within a few moments of your sitting down.
Sometimes he plops himself down where he thinks you are GOING to sit soon, so that he will be all ready to receive that petting and attention as soon as you are ready.
Robin's housetraining is excellent when he is on a set schedule or has access to a doggie door. He does resist pooping outside when it's cold and/or rainy. But since he LOVES walks (so much that he doesn't mind going even if it's cold/rainy) and he virtually always will poop on a walk--often within the first 50 yards--that is easily dealt with as long as the humans aren't too 'fraidy-cat of a little rain or cold.
Robin says "I have them trained quite well!"
He didn't resist our putting a fleece jacket on him when it was cold out, and wasn't even embarrassed at the wild pattern.
Does he think he is a cat??
Ah, yes, dog bed MUCH better!
Robin enjoys playing with stuffed toys, and Monkey is his favorite. He does not destuff them... just gnaws and tosses and waves it around.
He will sometimes consent to let you play with his toy with him as long as you are a human and not another dog.

Robin gets along great with other dogs that he knows. Robin is more of a people-dog than a dog-dog, though, so he doesn't often actually play with the others. But he will share space, share toys, go on walks together companionably, etc.
