1 Here is Maple, happy to be out of the shelter.
2 The shelter picture showed a really bloated dog. They say that she weighed 33 lbs.
3 She came to foster care in mid October weighing 22 lbs. Although she was very tubby, she was active and spry and her weight didn't seem to slow her down at all.
4 Maple is believed to be about 8 years old.
5 She is a calm but attentive girl. She is quite peppy, following me all over the house, trotting up and down stairs multiple times a day, and is always happy to go for a walk.
6 She has a sweet gentle nature.
7 She is reliably house trained, knows "sit" and comes when called.
8 Admittedly, she can be snarky with the other dogs when food is involved, so we feed her separately and limit treats/chewies, and she does fine.
9 She enjoys puttering around the yard but is otherwise quite low key.

11 A couple of days after she got here we went on a camping trip and Maple did great. She met lots of other people and other dogs and for the most part did just fine.
12 During Maple's spay surgery she had a small mammary tumor removed. She was sure glad when the stitches came out and the bumper came off.
13 Maple went hiking in the woods with us last weekend.
14 She did great, scrambling over rocks and under fallen trees.
15 She even took an accidental bath in the lake when one of the rocks was too slippery.
16 She enjoyed scavenging for hickory nuts.
17 But mostly she liked getting pats when we stopped for breaks.
18 Pats, please.
19 Over the course of the last few weeks she has lost some more weight and she now is down to 19.3 lbs. Her goal weight is 18 to 18.5 lbs.
20 Wouldn't you like a nice, easy-going, quiet and affectionate girl to share your life with?
