For the littlest guy in the TOP TEN, GRCH King Pen Prince Louie did quite well by placing NUMBER ONE in points! Prince enjoys showing and thinks it's great fun to show off in front of everyone. The louder the applause the more he wants to show off.
King Pen Kennels is proud to have the #1 TOP TEN Rat Terriers in points for both 2002 and 2002. We traveled to the Premier in Kalamazoo last year and we were so proud that Prince, who was still very young, won 2 shows out of 3. On Saturday he won Best of Breed and placed 4th in the Terrier Group. On Sunday he earned Best of Breed again. He was a little ball of FIRE ... and he surprised a lot of us.
Prince has really come into his own this year. Some of Prince's favorite activities are: Lure course, Go-to-ground, Terrier races, Barking at the goats and horses, Hunting for rats and gophers on...

James Dean (JD) was born on July 16, 2000 in Alabama. Did he know he was destined for greatness on that day? I'm not sure...but he is a one of a kind dog and our family pet first and foremost! We can't thank his breeder, Michelle Heist, enough for this boy!
In April, 2002...JD took his first BIMBS...standing tall in the BIS ring with 13 other breeds he WOWED Judges JD McNutt and Dan Crutchfield! Much screaming and hollering from his family on that day! JD is now semi-retired from the breed ring...but will come back occasionally for possible Total Dog points.
JD begins his obedience career this year...in earnest as he steps into the obedience ring for real in April!

Anita Culp who owns GRCH TkR Rock-E-Hill Sluper Snuper (we all know him as SNUPE) had a devastating loss when SNUPE was hit and killed by a car. She is heartbroken, of course.
SNUPE was a gorgeous Standard Tri-color that had an air of confidence and high quality about him in the ring that was very consistent. When I think of superb movement and show ring attitude ... I think of SNUPE. I often turned to newcomers and said to them. "WATCH this boy MOVE!"
Another amazing thing about SNUPE is that he always looked like he was enjoying the experience in the ring. SNUPE never looked bored, he always looked like he was having fun out there.
SNUPE sired only one litter (5 puppies) with Anita's Champion Penny. Those pups are on the ground now. I hope that one or more of them will carry on his amazing traits and we'll see them in the show ring in th...

GRCH Four Paws Mr X (c) has been a great dog for me, he has attained much more than I ever thought possible for a Rat Terrier. He was the 1st GRCH Rat Terrier, he was #2 last year and took BOB at the first Rat Terrier Top 10. In August he won our National Specialty.
Mr X is now retired and will only be shown on special occasions. Many of his progeny are being shown and will carry on his legacy as he is the foundation of my bloodlines. X is one special boy to our family!

Tinker is my special baby. Being an unexpected litter of 1 from Lar-mon's Tanaga Tinkerbell and Mr X, she's had lots of opportunity to become my special pup. She was everything I had hoped for in my breeding program and I couldn't believe I could get it with only 1 pup in the litter!
She has 2 BIMBS to her name that she received before she was even a year old! Tinker will be campaigned on a limited basis this year but we hope to be back in full force next year so I can see if she can fill her dad's big shoes at that time.

Oscar's story is not the typical show dog story. Oscar was purchased by my son, as a pet from an excellent breeder, Shelly Heist of Rat Pack Kennels. My sister, Nancy, had purchased a rat terrier earlier that year from Shelly, and my son Matt just had to have one of his own. I told Matt if he would save his money, he could purchase one.
Well, Matt saved his money, and we have to live up to our part of the bargain. By the end of August 2000, Matt had his very own rat terrier, Oscar Diablo. In March 2001, our family went to the Carolina Classic in Charlotte, NC. At that show, we decided to have Oscar evaluated to see if he too could be a show dog.
We had two judges evaluate Oscar, and both gave us the green light. I had always wanted to show dogs ever since giving up showing horses after having children.

2002 was an incredible year for GRCH Poochville's Martin Miggs NBT. In June 2002 we had a wonderful trip out to Kalamazoo for the 2001 Top Ten & Premier. Martin was Honored as the FIRST Rat Terrier Top Ten Award of Excellence Winner & BOB on Friday of the Premier. Martin's Mother, GRCH Lydia Pooch finished her Grand Championship in just 6 months at the age of 4;.and to complete the circle of life two of Martin's offspring CH Poochville's Macy Mae Brown and CH Barbearian Jax Flash finished their UKC Championships in 2002.
Martin looks forward to competing in UKC's future Go-to-Ground and Terrier Racing events.

GRCH Cal Val King Pen Ka Zoo was last years #1 on the TOP TEN list for 2001. She has matured in this past year. She spent most of the year in semi-retirement while she had a litter of six beautiful puppies.
Kazoo loves to play ball and frisbee and waits anxiously every day for Ray (her very favorite human) to come home from work so she can do just that. Ka Zoo loves Terrier events, the lure course, going for a rides in the car and playing "catch me if you can" and "tug-of war" with the other dogs.
To top off the day ... she loves to unstuff the fluff out of all the stuffed animals!! Kazoo is a character around our home ... and we love her.
