2001 was the first year that Rat Terriers participated in the UKC Top Ten competition. This album contains those dogs who earned the prestigious honor of placing in UKC's Top Ten for 2001.
To earn a placement in Top Ten, you must win the Best of Breed over alteast one other dog of your breed, you earn a point for each dog you place over, and all points are accumulated. The Top Ten dogs of each breed then earn a placement in Top Ten.
Those 10 dogs then compete to earn Best of Breed Top Ten and the reserve winner earns the titile of Award of Excellence.

Consider what she accomplished in five months of showing:Championed July 14, 2001. Grand Championed September 29, 2001, Best of Breed and Best in Show at 13 months old under Judge Billie Huggins at the Cascade APBT show in Longview WA. Her 8th BOB and first BIS was her sweetest success since to achieve it, she had to beat the top-ranked APBTs and AE's.
When not showing off in the ring, she loves chasing a Frisbee or a ball or just lying back and being spoiled rotten by the Draper's.

U.K.C. Grand Champion Lar-Mon's Gray Ghost aka Casper was born here on our farm May 10, 1998. That just happened to fall on Mother's Day that year and what a gift he was to me. Little did I know at that time he would go on to be U.K.C.'s First Rat Terrier Champion!
Casper started his show career at U.K.C.'s Premier Show held each June in Kalamazoo, MI. Saturday's show Casper took Best in Breed, boy were we thrilled. At Sunday's show Casper took another Best of Breed and went on to place 4th in Group!! THRILLED? You better believe it, beyond words.
Casper is my companion and best friend but most of all through him an our love for the ring we have meet and made friends that will last a lifetime. Casper has given me so much, I hope I can live up to my end of the deal!!

In 2001 Poochville's Martin Miggs NBT gained his UKC Championship and his GRAND Championship. Martin won EIGHT Best in Breed's one of which was at the ARTA National Specialty in Connecticut. He also won Reserve Best of Show at the ARTA Show in Washington.
MARTIN is the sparkle in the morning greeting you with kisses. He is the spunk in the afternoon that makes you want to play & have fun with life.

Star's Rebel Without A Cause (AKA JD/James Dean) stepped into the show ring for the very first time in late April, 2001. When the weekend was over he had 85+ points, two majors and two BOB honors! He completed his Championship in July, 2001 at Longmont, Colorado, becoming a Grand Champion on October 7, 2001 at Terrell, Texas. From "newbie" to Grand Champion in 6 months time!
Not only can JD strut his stuff in the show ring, but he has recently begun to work on his obedience titles.
We are looking for big things from this boy as he works to become that "All-Around" Rat Terrier! When you see JD ask him to "Twist & Shout"...

What can I say about Cali? She is one of the sweetest dogs that GOD ever made, she is my best friend? YEP that and more. Cali started her show ring career in April, 2000. She attained her UKC Championship in September of that year as well.
At the ripe old age of three years, Cali is still in the ring...looking for two more legs to complete her Grand Championship. When you meet Cali she'll just look at you with those big brown eyes...watch her wag her tail and you'll be smitten!
