Welcome to Animal House Rat Terriers where *LIFE IS ALWAYS MERRIER WITH A RAT TERRIER*. We hope you enjoy your visit. We live in North Central Texas 100 miles North of Dallas, in a place called Sherman,Texas. We work very hard at raising good quality & healthy dogs. Our dogs are our family companions, first and foremost.Every dog we own is pictured on this website, including our retired Rat Terriers. All of our puppies are whelped in a private nursery room inside our home.Once they are up on their feet and toddling around,we move them and Momma into a x-pen in our living room. This exposes the puppies to many new sights and sounds. At six weeks of age and after they have recieved their first shots, they are then allowed outside and learn about more new sights and sounds. We are very proud of the Rat Terriers that we produce.Under NO circumstances will we sell to puppy mills or brokers of any kind.We reserve the right to refuse any person that cannot provide what we feel is the proper home for our puppies or dogs.Purchasing a puppy or dog is a life time committment. Our goal is to produce Rat Terriers that are healthy, have excellent temperaments and conformation. We breed to the United Kennel Club breed Standard. The Rat Terrier is an alert dog and spirited, yet obedient and easily trained. All of our dogs will be OFA Certified for tight patellas, cardiac, hips, elbows, and lcp prior to breeding. Why do we choose to OFA Certify, to lower the incidence of orthopedic and genetic diseases.OFA is the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals,an online registry database screening for diagnostic tests for a variety of inherited abnormalities, Responsible breeders use this valuable tool to screen for healthy breeding dogs and bitches to determine which dogs have the defects that appear in our breed. We will only use those bitches and dogs that pass these test in our beeding program. Our dedication as breeders today will help keep our breed sound and healthy for future generations. Occasioally we do offer Stud Service to OFA Certified females only. These Studs represent what we strive to achieve here at The Animal House, type, sound conformation, wonderful temperaments, and over all, good health. All approved females will require a negative Brucellious Test.If your female does not have the required OFA health clearences,we will gladly discuss with you your options and how to go about testing. If you are planning on breeding your female,it is always best to contact the Stud owner two months before breeding. This enables you time to discuss all matters and perform necessary health clearences. Not all Stud dogs are suitable for all females. Our goal is to improve the breed and produce healthy, sound puppies that fit the breed standard. If we do not feel our male and your female are compatible,we may know of a male that would be more suitable for your female. Our dogs are fed a Premium diet of dry kibble and Barf. The dry food we feel is best for our dogs is Eagle Pack Holistic Select Chicken Meal & Rice.Their raw diet,or better known as the Barf diet, consist of chicken necks, chicken backs, ckicken hearts and gizzards, ground turkey, mackrel and assorted raw veggies....their favorite being baby carrots. They are kept on monthly Interceptor Heartgaurd year around. All of our Vaccines and our medications are purchased through our Veterinarian,Dr. Boyd Mills (580) 924-1640.We work closely with Dr. Mills to ensure our dogs receive the best care possible. All of our dogs are registered with United Kennel Club.We will gladly furnish references .E-Mail TheAnimalHouse@webtv.net for puppy availablity or call 903-267-1365.

Occasionally we have an adult or older puppy available.it is a hard decision and never an easy one,but we do sometimes have to place a few of our adult dogs in their own forever pet homes.
All dogs and older puppies that we place in pet homes will be current on all vaccines, crate trained and will be on monthly heartworm preventative. They will be spayed or neutered before being placed unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties.

This Pretty Little baby is available. She is out of our Ryder/Sally Litter and was born on 1/13/08.
She has had 3 shots.....6/9/12 weeks, been wormed,on monthly heartworm preventative, and is micro chipped.

She should be about 7 to 9 pounds grown and about 11 to 12 inches.
She will be spayed prior to placement.

If you are interested in her email me at theanimalhouse@webtv.net or call me at 903-267-1365.
