Tehya/Wyatt babies - 6 weeks Oh, so many more firsts for the little ones. They got their collars and are wearing them proudly. For the first time ever, there wasn't much scratching and complaining about them. They got their first baths this weekend. They looked so pretty and smelled so good... for about 10 minutes. They got their nails trimmed again and got wormed for the second time. They've been playing on the equipment in the puppy pen and having so much fun. Potty training is going well. They hate pottying inside, so they holler until I get up to let them outside. What good babies! Their Mama Tehya was the same way.
This next week will include trips to visit friends and, maybe, a trip to Ellis Pottery to visit some nice salespeople.

Week 5 What a busy week for the little kidlets. We went on our first long car trip and met tons of new people. My goal is to introduce the babies to at least 50 different people before they go home at 8 weeks. If you think about it, it's HARD to find 50 different people who are interested in playing with a stranger's pups. So far, we've met and been handled by 12 different people. Thank you to those of you who played with us!
They are starting to relate to their environment and entertain themselves. Their little personalities are starting to emerge. So far, we have no shy shrinking violets in the bunch. There are two who look like they might be toots. We're going to have to keep an eye on them!
They are starting to demand their food. Little Tehya is still nursing them, but they want MORE! Soon, Tehya will start weaning them... I hope. She's just started leaving the puppy pen for more than just potty breaks. Her favorite part of the day... Right after the babies decide they've had all the food they can eat and I let her go clean up the left overs. She is looking great! |

Week 4 The babies were very busy learning and growing this week. They went from wobbly infants to wobbly toddlers. They are learning about each other and their immediate environment.
Mama Tehya continues to be an exceptional mama. She spends most of her time on top of the crate the babies sleep in. The babies are still nirsing more than they are eating solid food, so Tehya is still full of milk. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately?) she has abdicated her poopy duties. |

Week 3 The weather has been horrible in East Texas. Rain, rain, and more rain! There was finally a semi-decent afternoon, so I grabbed the babies and snapped a few pictures.
The babies have reached the beginnings of the really cute stage. They are still BABIES, but the toddler is starting to emerge. They are starting to growl and bark, they are toddling around on wobbly little legs, and starting to interact with their littermates.

Week 2 I am in love with these little ones! They are so snuggly and lovable. They are all trying out their wobbly little legs and starting to get their peepers. We're in the middle of the Super Dog Program. Some of the babies tend to sleep through it while others just pitch a fit! We did toenails yesterday. Whew! I don't think any of them liked that a bit.

Week 1 Seven babies! They are all doing wonderful. The big guy has almost doubled his weight. The itty bittie one hasn't gained but 2 ounces. They are all active and vocal though.
Mama Tehya is doing great. She looks great and has taken to motherhood like a seasoned pro. She is doing better than I ever expected. For once in her life, it's not all about Tehya. Ok... so it is, but she's sharing the limelight this time.
The babies have already gone to meet Sugar. All tails and dew claws have been removed. We have started the Super Dog Program.

Newborns Tehya started having her babies at 2:00 Monday morning. Once she started, she just wouldn't stop! I thought she was done when she'd had five babies. I was bragging to a friend about the pretty babies, turned around and she had another one! Then I stepped away for 15 minutes, and she had another one!
The babies are all strong and healthy at this time. The smaller male was the only one who lost weight on Day 1. He'll be getting some special nursing time with mama.
I've tied colored yarn around the black tris necks. I always wondered how mamas who have twin babies kept from getting confused. Fingernail polish and clothes would be my solution. So, I'm going to use yarn until I learn all those sweet little dots that make ratties so individual. UPDATE: Princess Tehya decided she hated my yarn idea. She took all of them off before I got home on their first day. Thank goodness I'd taken pictures so I could identify them.
