My 2008-2009 Beading for a Cure piece: a full chess set. Yes, it was quite possibly the most time-consuming beadwork project I've ever done, but dang is it cool.

Each piece is made entirely with beads. There are no other materials, no inside supports, and nothing holding them together but thread.

Color-coordinated drawstring storage bags, which my boyfriend (who is awesome) sewed from scratch especially for this project.

My 2007-2008 Beading for a Cure piece, a journal embellished with a floral still life worked in beadpoint. There are around 5000 size 11 seed beads in the panel, and I estimate that at least 35-40 hours went into the project.

My 2006-2007 BFAC piece was another embellished box, this one depicting a garden scene complete with a small pond and two caterpillars meeting on a path.

This box has a mesh screen in the lid, which worked well for the boucle-style stitch with which the beads are attached.  The grass, flowers, and other beads actually stick straight up from the surface of the box.

The inside of the garden box. I added a beaded catch-cord to hold up the top since it's so heavy. :)

My piece for Beading for a Cure 2005, a hairstick barrette.  I made each part of this piece, including the leather and the hairstick.  It was a lot of work but I think it's worth it. :)

"I think that it's gorgeous..."

The center flower was made with Ndebele (herringbone) stitch, and each silver flower bud was made with tubular brick stitch with increases.  Beaded edging holds together the ultrasuede and leather layers.

This is my contribution to the 2004 Beading for a Cure project.  I stained the wooden box (which measures about 7.5" x 5" x 4.25") and then added the fabric, beadwork, and trim.  The fabric has batting underneath to make the top poofy.

The main beadwork panel was done with 2-drop odd-count peyote stitch in a pattern I designed to resemble a Persian rug.  The fringe incorporates seed beads, hex beads, firepolished beads, and Swarovski crystals.

This fancy necklace was inspired by a design I saw in a bead catalog.  I love the scrollwork in the centerpiece.  This became the first non-commission piece I've sold.  (Yay!)

These tiny beads came from a shop in Venice, Italy.  I made the S-clasp out of gold-filled wire.
