Recent natural disasters demonstrate that those who have the least, suffer most. Ahna Machan, CARE’s Western Region Senior Director and Melanie Macdonald, President/CEO of World Neighbors, outlined the spectrum of international aid, from immediate disaster relief to long-term sustainable development. The session was moderated by Patricia Wahl, PhD, Dean of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Washington. This forum helped us understand what actions make a lasting impact, and how to identify organizations that use our dollars wisely to truly make a difference.
