This a collecton of images of the 27th Lancers. I need help with some of the photo captions, ie. dates, names and places. Please email me at up4479@hotmail.com. You can click on each image and make them larger for closer inspection. Beware, load times will be long for the larger sizes. If the detail is in the original, I've captured it in the scans. Have fun and share what images you have with us! We can put them on the web for you. Come back for updates. There are more where these came from. Enjoy.

Great job Steve S.!!! That's the best all around collection I have ever seen!I will tell others! I was there in 1968 as a supporter and a friend. Billy Doherty used to take me to rehearsals at Majestic Knights Hall in Charlestown, who would have ever thought I would have the experiences, that took me all the way up to marching the Alumni corps in 1994? I will never forget when IKE let me work the Soprano flags in Miami 1970. He knew when people had an interest or a talent. He was also the one responsible for getting George Z. to march as Wee Willie! The rest is history!Imagine I found myself writing dots and drill forms and had never marched a step in any Drum Corps! That was because of Ike's great drills and movement! He was an innovator, especially with colorguard staging and integration! In 1973 he spoke about changing flag colors during "African Suite". If I remember correctly, he wanted another silk to come from inside the pole.He also knew to bring outside colorguard people in such as Bruce Leo, Tommy Moorehouse and Carolyn Andersen to move the Lancer colorguard forward! I always remember those first Drill camps at Lasallette! I was afraid to go to sleep, I still have nightmares, that he may single me out and I too would have to go find my counts or stand on a table! Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane! 2 The first day. Here is the first day out in public. The Revere Columbus Day parade, 10/12/1967. Revere Journal photo.
3 1968 Horns-A_Plenty Horns-A-Plenty was the 27th Lancers name for their show in the early years. This is from their very first sponsored show. It was an Eastern Mass show and was presented on the Saturday after the Reveries Music Under the Stars show on Wednesday the 26th at the same place. I remember this being hard on the adults. The ties between the Reveries and the Lancers at this point were very strong. Siblings, cousins and neighbors marched in both corps. Parents supported both corps and worked hard behind the scenes at both shows that week. Things were uncertain for both corps in 1968 and the adults knew that the survival of both depended on hard work and dedication. In the end, this payed off for both corps over time as both corps thrived and grew over the following years.

17 SLUSHY AND ADELVA 1970 WORLD OPEN Here is Slushy and Adelva (the site owner's parents) at the Fleetwood Records/Drum Corps News stand at the 1970 World Open in Manning Bowl, Lynn, MA. Slushy's cousin, Vin Giarusso was partners with Ray Samoura in FR/DCN who promoted the World Open and a few other shows. During the 60's and early 70's Slushy traveled the continent selling records in addition to having a full time job and his involvement in the Reveries (2 marching sons) as well as helping the 27th Lancers. Notice Adelva has 27th buttons and a Reveries patch. Drum corps ran around the clock 24/7 in our house!
