1 The mall in Limerick, where we bought another suitcase (the shopping got a little out of control :-)
| 2 First time we saw a public trash can, after 3 days in Ireland.
| 3 Just a road marker, we liked the Dublin and Tipperary references.
|
4 An old monastery on a side road from downtown Limerick.
| 5 The pub next door to our hotel in Limerick.
| 6 The road to Bunratty Castle (you can see the castle in the background).
|
7 On the approach to Bunratty...
| 8
| 9 The back side of the castle.
|
10 Zoom in to read the history. Really old digs, this place.
| 11 Part of Bunratty's grounds.
| 12 A view from one of the towers. Bunratty lies at the fork of three major rivers.
|
13 Another view from the top...
| 14 ..and another...
| 15 Hope the ancient residents didn't drink this stuff...
|
16 One of the guest houses on the castle grounds...
| 17 Gardens and stonewalls have been built for the tourists.
| 18 Really cool stone work...
|
 19 ...and really old, too...
| 20
| 21
|
22 A section of the wall around what used to be the moat.
| 23 There's a re-created village on the grounds. This is a typical farmer's house.
| 24 This is where a tradesman might have lived.
|
25 This is where a doctor may have lived.
| 26 The front of the printer's shop.
| 27
|

| 29
| 30
|
 31
| 32 This used to be the moat...
| 33 A view of the front entrance... where the "dinner guests" enter the castle.
|
34 Seated next to us was a woman from Texas, with her adopted Korean daughter. (They had Boston accents, and for a time lived in Easton, MA).
| 35 The mead wine that was served made Terry kind of cuddly...
| 36 A Harp player entertained the diners at Buntratty Castle.
|
37 And the singers, all dressed in medieval costumes, doubled as the waitresses.
| 38 Our new Texas-Boston friends, leaving the castle after dinner.
| 39 Back in the day, a draw-bridge stood where the stairs are today.
|
40 Check out the torches for front door porch lights...
| 41
| 42 Limerick hosted Austria in the Special Olympics World Games held in Dublin, which took place while we were there.
