1 This is a .223 Rem M700 bolt with firing pin group pulled out’…, you can see the pieces of primers in the upper corner. I used a dental pick to remove the impacted brass primer pieces.
2 Here’s the firing pin front view with primer pieces’…, each piece (5) represents a misfire on the line. I’m sure the five “misfires” and the five pieces of primer metal are a coincident’…but I did misfire five rounds after the last primer was pieced. I have since cleaned everything up and I’m back in business.
3 This view into the bolt body clearly shows the brass on the shoulder that set the distance of the firing pin strike.
4 Left to right are my unfired and fired cartridges, #1 one loaded Win brass, WSR primer, 24.5grs N150, 80grs Sierra Mk at 2925 fps. This is not noted for being a hot round in my rifle. I’ve used other Win primers and never had a problem I believe it was inherit in the case of primers I bought. #2 showing crater just at the point of almost piercing the primer #3 shows complete failure of the primer cup and piercing the primer
