Fixing up the kitchen in the big house after the slow, erratic death of the garbage disposal.

Kitchen before remodel. Countertop, sink and disposal (which got this whole thing started) will be history. Who knew that it would take an 18 YO disposal so long to finally kick the bucket? (Hint: when it's really dead, the little wrench does no good.)
Another view.
Gee, I really hate that sink. And don't get me started on the faucet.
The rest of the kitchen. Yes, it's very Mary Engelbreit. No, the toaster oven is not normally under the table.
Gone!!! Took them a while, too; some spots were anchored pretty tight.
Another view.
Yeah, here's where it was anchored in pretty tight.
The new plumbing will be much less complicated.
It's done!!! The new sink takes up less width but is more use-able. I get a bit more countertop space.
View to left of sink.
New, deeper sink with a new, quieter InSinkErator.
Yes. I have a fridge. And it just barely fits in that space. Tolerances are at max.
I still have some spackling and paint touch-up to do.
Painting's done. Waiting for it to dry. Even though the kitchen was painted some 13 years ago and I had to have a new custom color paint can mixed, the match is utterly perfect.
I'm an accident waiting to happen, where paint is concerned. I cover everything I can.
Everything.
Even the faucet. (That's actually an empty sleeve from the morning paper.)
Doesn't this look great? This was all splattered grease. Tomorrow I'll rehang the teapot wall pockets.
A little more of my kitchen. Two walls are painted and two are papered. I matched the blue and the green of the pantry door to the color of the teapots in the wallpaper.
I still love this wallpaper. Don't care whether it's still fashionable or not. It complements my small collection of Hall teapots.
It has a great border, too.
These are custom-made beveled glass cornices, which I picked up at some art/craft fair or another. (They barely survived the removal of the old countertop.)
Finis! Tape's removed. I discovered that a black Sharpie nicely covers the dings in long-ago painted outlet covers.
Full view. Note the ceiling looks patchy. We had pinhole water pipe leaks. This will be wrapped at a later date.
Countertop, fully loaded.
Another view.
It feels great to be done with this project. I'm putting a new light over the kitchen table, but my handyman-guy will be doing that.
