Grove Cottage North, early morning. (We're staying here this year.)

Sunrise over the citrus groves.

Another view of the groves, and driveway.

The lodge. It burned to the ground several years ago. The original plans were found, and it was rebuilt almost exactly as it was before . . . the kitchen was greatly modernized, and the upstairs apartment was reconfigured, but otherwise, you could swear it was the original place.

Another view, including the gorgeous tree -- dunno what this one is.

The circular drive in front of the lodge entrance.

Enlarge photo 9
9
The entrance to the lodge. It has a long screened-in porch that runs the length of the front.

The steps down to the fishing pier on the St. Lucie River.

Go down that sidewalk and you get to the pool and the tennis court.

The St. Lucie River, seen from the walk.

Another river shot.

On the way down to the fishing pier. This is a nice sitting area; it's lit at night.

15
From the fishing pier. That's the boathouse, atop of which is the owners' private residence.

The fishing pier.

View from the end of the dock. Gorgeous sky, no?

View looking the other way.

Looking back at the shore, from the fishing pier.

Another view from the pier. That's the St. Lucie House; it's a duplex with a deck running across the entire back (facing the river, of course).

Seating area, sidewalk leading to the swimming pool.

Walking back up from the fishing pier. That's the lodge; you're looking at the attic apartment.

Enlarge photo 23

View of the back of the lodge. That deck was added when the lodge was rebuilt.

We are now approaching the swimming pool. That's the pool house, and the pool beyond it.

Enlarge photo 25
25
Looking back from the pool area, we see the back of the lodge and the vast expanse of lawn in between.

26
A closer look.

Could not resist taking a shot of this li'l snail, over by the pool.

Enlarge photo 28
28
The pool! As seen from the bath house.

View of the pool from the other end. This was built in the 1930s, and not changed much since that time.

The tennis court.

Enlarge photo 31
31
A little gazebo. There's a ping-pong table inside.

Enlarge photo 32

Back of the lodge, looking toward the river. There's also a long screened-in porch along the back.

33
Walking back from the pool/courts, on the other side of the lodge.

Enlarge photo 34
34
Gorgeous flowers growing on a trellis behind the lodge.

This is the house we stayed in - Grove Cottage North - all decked out in its Christmas lights.

The Lodge entrance, lit up for the holidays.

The pool at night.

Another night view. Too bad it was too cold to enjoy a night dip.
