13 Into The Swamp.......................
14 Campylocentrum pachyrrhizum
"Bent Ribbon Orchid"
This juvinile plant still has its "baby leaf". This will typically fall off after the first year of growth and then it will grow into an adult leafless orchid.
This is the largest example of the American alligator I have ever seen. This particular animals head was approximately 3 1/2 feet long and I would estimate it's total length to be over 15'. I have extensive hands on experience with the American alligator and this was a gigantic creature........living in the swamp.

"Florida Panther"
The most incredible sight of the Fakahatchee Strand. Truly a once in a lifetime sighting and experience. I was lucky enough to capture this moment at about 8:30 am..........being the first person on Janes Scenic drive also helped as the wildlife was just starting to "wake up"

94 Dark-thirty in the swamp.....
Reserved for that special time when it is neither day nor night and when shapes and shadows play tricks on the mind. The half hour just before nightfall.........the dark-thirty.
