Local Photo Trips We took a road trip from Grand Junction, Colorado to Rico, Colorado the 29th of September and back to Grand Junction the same day. Rico is south of Telluride, Colorado. I just upped the number of photo's I am able to put on this site and added 100+ photo's to this album on 11/31/2013. Date(s): October  2013 to when ever. Album by Ron Carrick. It is what they call a, "Head Frame". There is a pulley on top that has a cable running into the mine shaft below it and to the left the other end of the cable is attached to a spool that is run by a motor that lifts miners and ore out of the mine. It is called a hoist. The shack is where they empty the ore and below that is a bin they load the ore out of by dumping it in what ever they haul it away to the mill with. I worked at a Gold mine in Montana in the early 80's and this head frame looks similar to the one at that gold mine except our head frame was all steel.
