2014 Photo's
I need to put more pictures in a yearly album so this is my first addition exclusively for 2014. I will be adding to it slowly in the next few weeks. There are a few photo's so at least you can tell I did take a photo or two. The sheep were not in Rocky Mountain National Park but on the West Slop near Kremlin, Colorado, Some of the elk were in the park and some just outside the boundary near Grand Lake, Colorado.
I just added new Desert Big Horn pic's I took 11-03-2014 on 11-24-2014. I am not sure how many more I will post but I saw them several times and each time got more photo's. 4 New RAM photo's I took in 2011 I believe. This is the first posting of them in any albums on the site.

Profile against blue. He was as high as he could go so he looked around to see things. This was taken 11-08-2011

This was a bear that ran when it saw my vehicle. It came down from the Book Cliff mountains to find something to eat. A late heavy frost in the mountains froze all the budding berry bushes. So the bears were hungry. This guy  got a bee hive near by the day before this. He is the black dot in the middle of the photo running for the corn field.

He was getting ready to come down because he was at the peak of his upward climb.

He is slowly making his way down. There was one way up and one way down for even him. The other side dropped off straight down for a 100 feet or so.

My first ram I'd seen in Colorado National Monument in a while. He is pretty young because the end of his horns are not paint brushed yet. This was October 3rd of 2014

This is him again. There was one in this bunch that had paint brushed horns but I never saw him again after this day. Maybe this young guy ran him off?

So far these are of a Rocky Mountain Big Horn ram and his herd. We were on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park to see the Elk. These guys were just south of Kremmling, Colorado. We saw the elk later that day in the

They all went over that rail and down a long hill to the Colorado River below, he brought up the rear.

This is the biggest bull I've ever seen on the west side of the Park. He had a small herd but all the younger elk that crossed the road seemed to be much younger than this guy. The 5 point bull they had was not a match for this big guy and they were separated by maybe a mile.

This is the small 5 point bull but he would have been no match for that big one. The bull of this size usually do not take part in the rut because they would lose to a bigger bull. Maybe this bunch were not ready for the rut. More like a bunch of teenagers so to speak?

Still there were a few full grown cows in this bunch and they seemed to have calves with them yet. They didn't seem to be interested in the young bull. Maybe the rut was about over for most of the elk already.

The ram with the wide spread is quite a bit younger than the one in front of him. They butted heads once while I was taking these photo's but he didn't try it again. The real head butts are loud and this wasn't loud at all.

A few days later I caught the same bunch in another place. This photo and the rest of the photo's were taken of the same ram but on October 9th of 2014. There was only one herd that in the Frutia Valley during October and last time they were seen was November 9 by me.
