45 day old Angel takes a peek down the basement stairs...
And since I am on the lower steps I can take this shot!  I just love her tiny blaze!

45 day old brother see, brother do....
Aries has to come take a look-see too!

Tiny is now FAUNA....
Heath and Stacy were attracted to the heart murmur pups and finally decided that Ziggy needed a sister!  So his 107 day old half sister gets to go home and live with the Zig - all 32 pounds of him!  Fauna is a more sensitve girl, and tested out to have a temperament suitable for kids.  We expect her to be a real lap dog for 10 year old Ray when she gets home!

Let the reshuffling begin!
Now that Fauna has gone home, the Twins (108 day old Jack and Diva) remain, and battle it out for top pup position!

Astro watches as the A-Team battles ...
Over an irregularity in the rug, while Ruby chews her bone from her perch!  Team-mates 47 days old.

108 day old Jack....
Caught in mid-stride as he races about the room full of the puppy zoomies!

I have to say, the newspaper did NOT start out there...
But was dragged around the room by the Team-mates.  We keep paper in key places so the pups can easily access it - but not in the doorway!  Oh well, they had fun!  And now they wait with Conan to see what Bob is cooking up in the kitchen!

Sometimes when you're alpha you have to put your mouth.....
Around someone's head!  Conan takes Jack to task for leaping up and pawing his face  - and the A-Team watches with interest: this could be YOU one day, tiny pups!

Jack chews on a bone while Angel observes....
Part of dog/dog socializing is exposing them to more alpha types doing what they do; with 109 day old Jack flaunting his bone, 48 day old Angel learns you can't always get what you want, and if you try sometimes, you just might find that a bigger pup might nip you!

48 day old Aries awaits....
Dinner smells just about done and he wants to try it!

2 year old Astro in action.....
What is good for the goose is good for... well, let's just say that just like Angel, 109 day old Jack and Diva have an alpha to answer to, too!

3 year old Ruby taunts from her perch...
The pups already know that Ruby is alpha over them.

Benevolent alpha.....
Part of healthy dog/dog behavior is role switching.  Ruby just spit out her bone and now Angel takes it up!

Not good contrast, but here is the hernia!
On 49 day old Angel - that bulge near Bob's thumb is it.

Aries doesn't have one.....
But showing you his belly as he is the same size- a normal groin on this boy!

Enlarge photo 16

Diva's turn...
A normal groin in an older female pup for comparison.

Crate training continues for the 109 day old pups.....
The pup pack has been crated for car rides and briefly at dinner time, but now its time to work on being in the crate for down times.  Pups must learn to tolerate it quietly - and shrieking and fussing at this point is rewarded with a rap on the crate and a "ENOUGH!" command.

Pups are released now....
And it looks like a doggy free for all!  The older pups are still very concerned with pack status and rank, and they try their moves on the younger pups.  Diva takes shots at Angel, who is more than game to take her on!

Diva forgot one small thing....
Her mother!  Xena the enforcer corrects Diva for picking on Angel!  Xena will set limits on how much rough housing is allowed and in this case she thinks we've had enough!  Good girl, Xena!

The human alpha takes the stage....
Eveyone pays attention to Bob when he has the ball!

111 day old Diva thinks about it....
She is planning her escape to the carpeted side!

50 day old Angel closes in....
She's chasing Goliath!

Enlarge photo 23

And she found him, too!
Goliath is very gentle with pups, and has trained many pups to respect cats.  Folks who get my pups love that they already know what the house cat is - a family member too!

Uh oh!
50 day old pups turn the corner and find a great find!

 Continued ...
