Steam engine 480 of the Durango - Silverton  narrow gauge railroad as it waits for engine 473 to back up, hook up, and pull the cars around 40 miles to Durango. (Narrow guage RR tracks are 36 inches apart compared to 4FT. 8 1/2 inches for standard guage.) Narrow guage rails make it earier to go around tight corners in the mountains.
