Desert Big Horn Sheep
I took quite a few Desert Big Horn Sheep photo's. So decided that an Album was needed just for them. The first photo's were taken October 6, 2010 and the last ones were taken November 18, 2010. Some of what you will see contains action the human eye can not see, unless pictures are taken of the sequence using a DSLR Camera that can take several pictures a second when the button is held down. About 90% of the photo's in this album were taken in Fruita Canyon near Frutia, Colorado on the west end of the "Colorado National Monument." The first photo in this album was chosen along with 19 others in the 100th year Anniversary art contest of 'Colorado National Monument'. They picked the winning entries of the 20 and announced the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place of the 20 entries January 7th 2011. I didn't place but the photo's were on display until June 30 along with the 19 other entries. There were around 225 entries in the contest. There were some really nice photo's and art pieces in the 20. I'm glad I didn't have to be the judges. Being one of 20 was an honor.

This guy stopped eating and headed for the bottom of Fruita Canyon too. This photo was entered in the 100th Anniversary of the "Colorado National Monument" Photo - Art Contest in late 2010. It along with 19 other entries were  hung and on display for 3 months in the the Grand Junction, Colorado, City Hall Building starting January 7, 2011. then for 3 months in the Mesa County, Colorado Building. Best of show, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, was announced the evening of January 7th. This photo wasn't in that group. This photo was the only animal photo of the 20 chosen to be on display. There was a total of 75 people who submitted 3 pieces of Art each for a total of 225 pieces in the contest. Being one of the 20 was an honor. Has anyone noticed something missing on the RAM? How about his right ear? He had it back of his head. To me it seemed to be a sign of alarm on his part. #109 is where 2 RAMS did a Head Butt that are rare Photo's to get.

Rocky Mountain ram and ewe just inside Colorado National Monument on the Fruita side. They were off the road 100 feet or so. October 6, 2010. They were looking at a car going by.

His ears went forward when he heard a vehicle. I had the 100 mm X 400mm image stabilizing Canon lens on the 7D. That means that the 1.6 factor Canon APS-C sensor converts 1.6 X 400 = 640mm

The sun was headed west so the rock took on a really dark red look in the shade.

The dark rock with her in full sun light made things look a bit unusual yet nice.

There were about 13 sheep in this bunch. 3 Rams and 10 Ewes.
I used the 7D and T1i intermittently so the numbers are the numbers of the camera's not in the order they were taken.

They all of a sudden started coming down that hill in my direction. For a moment I thought they might come up and visit me on the opposite side of this little valley. I was preparing to run until they stopped in the bottom.
