Alaska
| This was a land tour with Gate 1. We flew into Anchorage and then took the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park. On the Wilderness Tundra Tour we saw moose, grizzlies, black bears, Dall sheep, and eagles. On the bus ride to Fairbanks we saw the Alaska pipeline and fantastic autumn scenery, including a perfectly clear view of Mt. McKinley (Denali Mountain). On a sternwheeler ride on the Chena River we visited an Athabascan Indian village. A one day cruise on Prince William Sound at Valdez afforded views of whales, seals, and sea lions, plus icebergs and glaciers. The trip ended in Anchorage with visits to the Native Heritage Cultural Center and the Anchorage Museum. |
