Presenting the very first Tree Climbers' Guide; Chinese 1st Edition. This is a "one of a kind" training manual published  especially with the Hong Kong audience in mind. Don Picker spent the last half of 2005 working as "project director" on this landmark document. In the nearly 90 years of history the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) has never yet had training materials translated into such a unique language as Chinese. This TCG; Chinese is specifically produced in traditional characters at this time.

The chapter on "Climbing" is very informative.

Again, illustrations are abundant and covey much of the practices by themselves.

Joe says; "Hey Sharon, what do you  think of the Chinese edition?"
Enlarge photo 20enlarge 107KB, 800x600
The material used to print the TCG is even more durable than the English edition. (Joe says, wow, 50 books weigh 62 pounds; my whole luggage check in allowance is only 44lbs)
Enlarge photo 21enlarge 67KB, 800x600
I guess I could try to speak a little Chinese... "Xin Nian Kuai Le!!" (Joe says, Happy New Year!!)
Enlarge photo 22enlarge 31KB, 800x600
Pruning, chapter five, covers the topic in clear and consise details.

In this translation new words that never previously existed have been carefully created.

The traditional (classic three-cut) is described and illustrated as the "Saam douh faat" (Cantonese Yale romanization) which was introduced to Hong Kong.

Even cabling, a very new concept in Asia will soon become a regular practice.
Enlarge photo 28enlarge 101KB, 800x800
The Glossary was an especially valiant effort on the part of Ken So of KFBG as he worked for long hours interacting with Don.

The next challenge has been to continue to translate the Exam materials related to the TCG. Patrick Zheng has done a great initial job.

Enlarge photo 34enlarge 91KB, 800x600
Every man has an oportunity to participate in a mock rescue. (very good climbers at AFCD)
Enlarge photo 35enlarge 98KB, 800x600
Knots are a primary part of the examination, especially the climbers' knots!
Enlarge photo 36enlarge 120KB, 800x600
Smooth climbing and safety are the other primary features that must be demonstrated.
