On Thursday, 30 July, 2015, my buddy Ray and I set off to hike the triple 14er, Mounts Democrat (14,154’), Lincoln (14,295’), and Bross (14,177’). It is interesting to note the there is a forth 14er above the basin, Mount Cameron, but it is too close to Mount Lincoln and its higher elevation to officially count as a 14er.
The day was spectacular with crystal clear blue skies, little or no wind, and temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s at peak elevations. The route spanned a total of 7.25 miles with a total elevation gain of 3700’. This relatively low total gain is due to the parking area sitting at an already altitudinous 12,000’, which Ray delivered us safely to in his black, 4 wheel drive Toyota Tacoma pickup. The hike overall was moderately challenging on the way up, with the final decent from Mount Bross being the most difficult due to large amounts of sand and loose gravel on the trail.
The pictures appear in chronological order and follow the hike route highlighted in yellow on the map shown at the beginning of the album. I hope you enjoy the album, and would love to hear your feedback, as I believe it captures some of the magnificence that IS The Colorado Rocky Mountains.
