Just got home.
| | | |
| Drivers seat It adjusts up and down as well as the usual back and forth. This is the first time I have seen this in a Pinto.
| | |
No Rust
| Solid floor. The 8" rear is a big plus.
| Right in back of the drivers side rear tire. No rust again.
| |
| | | |
78 and 79 Pintos The 79 still has the drag lites on.
| | The rear is up so I can start the suspension swap.
| First bolt I go to remove breaks. The rest were fine though.
|
The springs are almost ready to remove.
| Parts that are going in the 78
| Now its the 78s turn.
| The shocks are Motorcraft parts.
|
Just about ready to go.
| The springs are out. You can see the Volvo front mount intercooler leaning against the 79 Pinto. More about that later.
| Mock up. I mocked this up. I was going to use 1"x1" square steel tube as a spacer between the spring mounts. Note that the spring is upside down.
| I was told that the thing would squeek like crazy without the rubber bushings. I decided to go another route.
|
| I cut the sides off the 79s top mount and placed the lowering block between that and the 78s top mount.
| I had to cut the rubber bushings flush with the top so the block would fit snug.
| I had to remove some material under the block so it would fit tightly on the mount.
|
Finished. I painted the blocks black. I had to get new u-bolts because the bolts I had made for the 79 were too short after adding the rubber bushings.
| Finished rear suspension swap.
| Taking off all the new front suspension parts now.
| I removed both fenders for easy access.
|
| 78s turn again.
| Cant really tell its lowered two inches.
