78 Pinto Wagon......soon to be turbo.
This Pinto is in the condition Ive been looking for. No rust and pretty straight. Its a V6, auto and has A/C, power steering and brakes. Just 53,000 miles.  Since its a V6 it has an 8" rear end. I think Ill drive it for a while then start swapping parts from the rust bucket turbo 79 wagon to this Pinto.
The address for the 79s album is----http://ImageEvent.com/pandbz/1979fordpintowagon

It adjusts up and down as well as the usual back and forth. This is the first time I have seen this in a Pinto.

The 79 still has the drag lites on.
Enlarge photo 18 Enlarge photo 19 The rear is up so I can start the suspension swap.
Enlarge photo 20 First bolt I go to remove breaks. The rest were fine though.
Enlarge photo 21 The springs are almost ready to remove.

Enlarge photo 23 Now its the 78s turn.
Enlarge photo 24 The shocks are Motorcraft parts.
Enlarge photo 25 Just about ready to go.
Enlarge photo 26 The springs are out.
You can see the Volvo front mount intercooler leaning against the 79 Pinto. More about that later.
Enlarge photo 27 Mock up.
I mocked this up. I was going to use 1"x1" square steel tube as a spacer between the spring mounts.
Note that the spring is upside down.

Enlarge photo 28 I was told that the thing would squeek like crazy without the rubber bushings. I decided to go another route.
Enlarge photo 29 Enlarge photo 30 I cut the sides off the 79s top mount and placed the lowering block between that and the 78s top mount.
Enlarge photo 31 I had to cut the rubber bushings flush with the top so the block would fit snug.
Enlarge photo 32 I had to remove some material under the block so it would fit tightly on the mount.
Enlarge photo 33 Finished.
I painted the blocks black. I had to get new u-bolts because the bolts I had made for the 79 were too short after adding the rubber bushings.
Enlarge photo 34 Finished rear suspension swap.
Enlarge photo 35 Taking off all the new front suspension parts now.
Enlarge photo 36 I removed both fenders for easy access.

Enlarge photo 39 Cant really tell its lowered  two inches.
