Step-by-step photo guide to installing your Roo-Sport.com 5th Gear swap!

1 Steps #1 & #2 1. Put the car on jack stands – front wheels off ground. 2. Remove left front wheel and plastic side panel and put car in second gear and drain transmission.
2 Step #3 3. Locate side oil pan on tranny and remove bolts
3 Step #3B Remove oil pan – have pan underneath to catch the oil that will come out.
4 Step #4 4. Using an impact wrench, remove 26 mm nut.

6 Step #4B Slide off reverse gear from the rear shaft only. The front gear comes off with the assembly in step 7
7 Reverse Gear This is what the reverse gear looks like....
8 Step #5 5. Locate spring pin holding shift fork to the shaft – you will need to pull it out from the top. Drive it out with a 5/32 drift punch. This pic was taken from under the shift fork looking up.

10 Step #6A 6. Remove 32mm nut
11 Step #6B Remove slide fork,reverse gear and synchro assembly as one piece and I mean ONE PIECE! Take your time to do this.
12 (Step #6B parts...) Slide fork,reverse gear and synchro assembly...
13 Step #7 7. Remove the 5th gear set and replace with the Roo-Sport.com 5th gears.
14 Steps #8, #9, & #10 8. Replace shift fork and synchro assembly on shaft and replace nut. (remember to keep it in one piece) 9. Replace pin in shift fork 10. Replace rear reverse gear and nut – restake in original position or get new nuts, and torque to 94-152 ft lbs. and stake.
15 Steps #11 & #12 11. Clean off old sealant and reseal oil pan to transmission 12. Replace oil that came out with new oil.
16 Finishing up.... Replace side cover and wheel.
Put car on the ground.
Go for a cruise and congratulate yourself, because you're done!
