Yes...Im a science girl. And what better than an IONIC BOND! I do love salt! ;-))
These beads are made with some neat reactive glass, so they are somewhat of a science project. I suppose there is quite a bit of science involved in making glass beads! The reaction between the copper green and the ivory glass creates a antiqued, webbing like design and forms a dark edge around the ivory. I LOVE IT!
ALSO...the history behind the "Evil Eye" bead is a belief that there is evil all around us, and if you carry an evil eye bead with you, it will protect you from all evil! It is a very popular practice in Turkey, and the people always have extra evil eye beads on them, so they can give them to those that they meet. So there is some interesting beliefs about this type of glass art bead, also!
