Beginning in 1950, the State of Massachusetts converted its fleet of wildland fire engines to the Dodge Power Wagon. This 1958 photograph captures the power Wagon fitted with a PTO winch, 200 gallon water tank, 3,000 feet of forestry hose, assorted hand tools, water cans, and mobile radio.

My very first car ... a Dodge Power Wagon. Ideally suited for Bolivian dirt roads and for crossing flooded "quebradas". However, comfort and suspension were both near zero !!! Airconditioning was by pivoting the windscreen a little, thus allowing a stream of hot engine air in the cabin !!! NB : picture taken by Antonio Estop, friend and colleague with whom I shared the bachelors' house from nov. 63 until mar. 64 when Martin Hester arrived with his saxophone !!!
